Mostly just splashed pigments and water around today, and made a fine mess. After much tweaking, finally came up with 10-spoked color wheel that somewhat resembles what Mark Mitchell so persuasively demonstrates in his course. (And, perhaps more importantly, looked like the colors to me.)
My attempt at true red, orange, yellow, yellow-green (primavera? leaf? chartreuse?), green, blue-green (teal? deep turquoise?), cobalt blue, blue-purple (indigo?), purple, and red-purple (maroon?). I want proper rainbow names for them all!
I will let these mixtures dry in their pots and use them like ready-made pan colors in future. (Mark, notice I have them lined up facing their opposites…)

Good job, Lisa! Are you going to make these into watercolor pigment cakes that you can use over and over again? Are you going into paint manufacturing?
You can give the colors your terrific names: Leaf, teal…
You might be the first paint manufacturer to come out with an honest, dead center true red. What will you name it?
Yep! (Sorta) I’ve been keeping my tube colors in larger dishes, so this is just an extension of that.
I’m mostly curious to see how (if) having these babies ready-mixed might change how I work…
This is so cool. Creating colors as you see them. I look forward to see if these DO change your work and in what way. Please keep us informed!
Will do!
