Art Every Day Month #25: Partridge + Pear Tree

by Lisa on Wednesday, November 25, 2009

Today’s play was with perspective, attempting to site the partridge over the pear tree. Color goals were simple: stick to a limited palette.

Partridge over a pear tree

It’s only partially successful to my eye. If I do it over, I think I will stylize the bird more, in keeping with the treatment of the tree. And do something else with the sky. And make more of the medium I’m using; this might have been better in gouache.

Thank you, Leah! (I’m enjoying your Itty Bitty Kitty series. So very like what cats do, esp. today’s in the paper bag…)

Sweet! I love the interesting aerial perspective. Not a common viewpoint we expect.

I love the bird, and I love the tree circle/abstraction–seems like it might be fun (but stylized) if the circle underneath was the earth? Too corny? Seems like it could be a wonderful holiday card…

Hi, Sarah. I was actually thinking it was the world. If I make another run at this, I’ll do more with that.
