Lisa, this is beautiful. You’re a wonderful colorist (of course I knew that from when we worked together–you went places that didn’t occur to me). Will you be selling some of your work? At some point?

Andrea! What a nice thing to say (and ask). Yes, I do think I will be selling work at some point. Perhaps in 2010 — I have a lot of new stuff in the wings.

It’s funny, I do love color, but often feel I am in uncharted territory as I work.

Oh, I’m glad to hear that — I’ll look forward to buying some of your work!

I know what you mean about working with color. I’m much more comfortable with charcoals and working with values. I know I’m too cautious when it comes to watercolor. I wonder if there’s a mindset to get past because so much is not in your control. I took a class and the artist drummed this into us (bad teaching moment). But I think it’s letting the color (and water) have its say that can create those aha moments on the paper.

I’m also in love with color explorations — which is why I quilt and make pots (when I create the time). It is fun to realize how much we share that!

I am finding it inspiring to see the diversity of compositions you have made — and this one is so rich! I hope that this month will give you energy and encouragement to continue to explore!

You do AMAZING things with color, Martha. I love the subtle gradations in your quilts. And Aunt Tellie gets amazing texture in hers.

You would like Fi Bowman’s textile paintings. http://www.fibowman.com -> look through her portfolio, esp. at Hamadryad Oak and We Must Not Look at Goblin Men. Her work astounds me.
