Art Every Day Month #27: French Fields

by Lisa on Friday, November 27, 2009

Last spring, when we flew to Paris to visit M. on her term abroad, we flew over these amazingly high-keyed fields. The yellow crops, I learned later, are rapeseed, which we know also as canola.

This is rendered from memory, in colored pencil, then photographed (adding the shadows in the foreground, which I like) and made small adjustments in Fireworks:

French fields, seen from the air

Pretty. I’m betting the purple ones are either lavender or flax.

This is so lovely.
I was in a watercolor class once in Kerrville ,Texas and the teacher did an early morning demo in a lavender field in front of us,, replete with cloud shadows. You airplane view sketch reminds me of that morning.
